Personnel Changes
Alcor is pleased to announce the appointment of Bonnie Magee to the position of Finance Director. Bonnie comes to us with nearly a decade of experience in business audits and reviews. She will utilize her expertise and problem-solving initiative to undertake a wide variety of financial challenges. We would like to thank Sheila Kimbrell for her years of service at Alcor and wish her the best of luck in the future.
Another staff change that has taken place is the departure of Regina Pancake. We would like to express our appreciation for her contributions as Alcor’s Readiness Coordinator since 2007. We wish her well in her future endeavors.

Outreach by Board of Directors
Contacting Prospective Members
Several outreach initiatives are underway. It has been established that a primary source of membership growth is referral by existing Alcor members, so several board directors have begun proactively contacting prospective members. These communications have the side benefit of offering constructive feedback that will help improve the organization. For instance, one of the individuals informed us that the subscription process for Alcor News was not functioning properly. The malfunction has now been resolved.
Communications Committee
Another outreach initiative is the formation of a Communications Committee, also composed largely of board directors. Among other endeavors, committee members will participate in screening or soliciting media opportunities and live speaking engagements, identifying appropriate speakers, developing talking points and encouraging media training.
Wealth Preservation Trust Update
The committee assigned to research and establish a Wealth Preservation Trust has reached their fund raising goal. The committee will be contracting an attorney shortly.

Suspended Animation, Inc
A mutual assistance agreement was signed with Suspended Animation, Inc. to assist the organization with the standby, stabilization and transport of its patients. This will significantly enhance our ability to deliver quality care to our membership. We look forward to working with Suspended Animation.
New Board Member
Alcor is pleased to announce the election of Tim Shavers to the Alcor
Board of Directors at the May board meeting (held April 25 for
scheduling reasons). Tim is a new member of Alcor, but has been an
active Advisor and member of the Finance Committee since last year. He
brings to the board an impressive background in law and business

Cryonics Magazine
Alcor apologizes for the substantial delays in getting the two remaining 2008 issues to its members and subscribers in time. To get the publication of the magazine back on track again, and to improve its contents, Alcor has appointed Alcor member and publisher of the cryonics blog Depressed Metabolism Aschwin de Wolf as editor of the magazine.
Alcor is determined to publish the 2008-3 and 2008-4 issues and 2009-1 issues in quick succession over the coming months. If you have any questions about the magazine, or would like to contribute to the magazine, please contact the editor at:
