We have an ongoing need for licensed paramedics and emergency medical technicians to join our network of Regional Transport Teams. Currently, our need is in California, Arizona, Florida, and Texas. Your participation would be on a contract basis. If selected, you will be given cryonics training that will enable you to participate in our rescue and patient transport cases. DIRECTOR, FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING

Job Description:

The Alcor Life Extension Foundation is seeking an experienced Director of Finance and Accounting to join our high-functioning team. For five decades Alcor has developed and implemented innovative techniques in the field of human cryopreservation (cryonics). Reporting directly to the President, the Director of Finance and Accounting is responsible for all financial activities, maintaining the financial health of the organization, and providing fiscal advice to Executive Leadership and the Board of Directors.

The ideal candidate will have a high level of attention to detail, ability to work independently, possess refined customer service skills, and be a strategic thinker that can propose creative solutions. The position will require a high level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor and manage day-to-day financial operations (payroll, benefits, invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other transactions).
  • Oversee and maintain accurate accounting entries in QuickBooks Enterprise.
  • Produce reports related to budgets, account payables, account receivables, expenses, etc.
  • Interpret financial information and recommend courses of action to Executive Leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Develop, monitor, and manage the budgeting process.
  • Develop and propose strategies that minimize financial risk.
  • Make recommendations for cost-reduction and revenue generating opportunities.
  • Identify and implement process improvement opportunities related to finance and accounting operations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as Chair of the Finance Committee.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • College Degree, preferably in accounting, business, or finance.
  • 3+ years of experience in finance or accounting.
  • Solid understanding of financial modeling and accounting principles.
  • Ability to synthesize and distill complex data into actionable information.
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Enterprise.
  • Strong proficiency with MS Office products.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and must be comfortable interacting directly with membership.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of human cryopreservation ("cryonics") will be considered a plus.
  • Experience in a healthcare setting or with life insurance will be considered a plus.
  • Graduate degree or professional qualification such as CFA/CPA will be considered a plus.
  • Experience with nonprofit or tax-exempt organizations will be considered a plus.
