Alcor 50 Conference

Registration now closed

This year, the Alcor Life Extension Foundation is celebrating its 50th year. To mark the occasion, we are holding a conference on June 3-5, 2022, at the Scottsdale Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The conference itself will be Alcor’s first major in-person gathering in seven years, so we’re going to “go big.” We expect members, prospective members, and others interested in life extension and the far future to turn out enthusiastically. We hope not only that our attendees will enjoy hearing from and interacting with you, but also that you may find the experience enjoyable. There is no organization quite like Alcor, after all, and very few opportunities to explore cryonics and its implications for society now and in the far future.

Although many people look at cryonics as their “plan B,” our perspective at this event is that cryonics is Plan A. Probably everyone will need cryonics in order to reach a time where aging has been brought under control—and many people will need it sooner than they would like. That will be one of the topics discussed at the conference, along with research in cryonics, research in life extension more generally, financial planning for the very long term, lessons about cultural change from previous movements, and practical life extension.

Featured speakers:

David Chalmers

David Chalmers: We are delighted to announce the in-person presence of one of the most famous contemporary philosophers (and cognitive scientists) who specializes in the areas of philosophy of mind and philosophy of language. Prof. Chalmers is a Professor of Philosophy and Neural Science at New York University, as well as co-director of NYU’s Center for Mind, Brain and Consciousness. Prepare your questions for our special “fireside chat.” David’s most recent book, Reality+, is the first serious philosophical treatment of what is real, and what is valuable, in virtual worlds—a topic of unique interest to cryonicists who hope one day to live in the far future with this type of technology.

George Church

George Church: An American geneticist, molecular engineer, and chemist. Church is the Robert Winthrop Professor of Genetics at Harvard Medical School, Professor of Health Sciences and Technology at Harvard and MIT, and a founding member of the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering. He is known for his professional contributions in the sequencing of genomes and interpreting such data, in synthetic biology and genome engineering, and in an emerging area of neuroscience that proposes to map brain activity and establish a “functional connectome.” Among these, Church is known for pioneering the specialized fields of personal genomics and synthetic biology. He has co-founded commercial concerns spanning these areas, and others from green and natural products chemistry to infectious agent testing and fuel production, including Knome, LS9, and Joule Unlimited (respectively, human genomics, green chemistry, and solar fuel companies).

Featured panel:

The first-ever Presidents’ Panel, bringing together the present or former heads of four cryonics organizations: Max More, Dennis Kowalski, Emil Kendziorra, and Peter Tsolakides.

Among the other sessions:

  • Top cryobiologist Dr. Gregory Fahy on evidence from human brain cryopreservation.
  • Max Marty and Daniel Walters will record a podcast for their Cryonics Underground series.
  • A panel discussion on long-term financial planning in the face of inflation, with financial professionals Michael Korns, Justin Cairns, Mark House, Rudi Hoffman.
  • Top trust attorney and law professor Mark House on future income trusts and how you can keep assets for your eventual revival.
  • Alcor’s technical genius, Steve Graber, will take us on a journey through technical advances at Alcor.
  • Leading cryobiologist Brian Wowk on “Electromagnetic Warming of Vitrified Organs.”
  • Alcor Ambassador Max More on “Cryonics as Plan A.”
  • Aschwin de Wolf on “Biostasis Technologies.”
  • A panel discussion on revival and reintegration.
  • A panel discussion exploring what cryonicists can learn from previous massive shifts in public acceptance of minority practices with Natasha Vita-More, Jason Harrow, and others.

There will also be Saturday evening entertainment with comedy magician Dewayne Hill!

Alcor’s facility keeps changing. Come and take a look during the Sunday afternoon tours.

You will find plenty of time for networking, refreshing old acquaintances, and making new cryonics-friendly friends and associates.
